English 3 -- Turn in your poems. I will ask for a few of you to share yours (volunteers, only). Next, you will post to your blog (I HOPE!). Online, post the answers to three of the following:
1. How does this poem make you feel? Why? How does Poe make you feel this way?
2. Consider the motif of the word “nevermore.” How does this motif become increasingly more important as the poem goes on?
3. This poem has been popular for more than one hundred years. Explain why you think the poem does or does not merit this continued attention.
4. What does the Raven eventually come to represent?
5. Do you think grief can truly cause a person to permanently lose the ability to reason? Explain.
We will then discuss Herman Melville and his famous novel, Moby Dick. For homework, read the excerpt from Moby Dick and mark text for discussion in Socratic Circles Monday. Tomorrow, you will have the hour to work on your revision of your Crucible essay. If you are finished, please work on the Moby Dick excerpt.
English 4 -- You will have about half the period to work on correcting your drafts. Finals are due Friday by the end of the day. We will begin discussing argumentation-persuasion as our last type of writing.
Speech -- We will begin Chapter 6.
